Generating multiple iterations of one subject is a means of digging deeper. By repeatedly tapping into our mental database of associations and ideas, we are able to exhaust the obvious and get to fresher territory.
Assignment instructions:
Choose one subject and generate 100 iterations of it. You can use/appropriate, original or found images, typography, sketches, drawings, photographs, phrases, objects etc for the purpose of this semester-long assignment.
This classic exercise forces you (the designer) to choose one subject and visually interpret it in one hundred ways. The result, as a collection, has depth and breadth conceptually and formally, with an emphasis on excellence and innovation.
